I’m almost 16, and i alerady develop apps for android, which i assume is legal since they never asked me my age. That all goes on my bank statement. I’m registered for self employment.However, i want to move into iphone development. I’ve bought all the equipment to do so, and i’ve started learning objective c/making a game for the iphone. However, in order to progress with that, i need to start testing the app on my ipod, and to do that i need to enrol in the apple developer program, which costs a362. That would be my login to submit apps to the app store when i release them, and it would be how i would get paid, however you need to be 18 to sign up for it. So i need to know the answer to my question now, even though im not releasing apps yet:If i sign up under one of my parent’s names, will it still look legal when i submit tax returns, or will HMRC say that they’re the ones that have to pay the taxes? Hopefully i can use my bank account to receive the money, but if i can’t use that, and it has to go into one of my parent’s accounts, and then into mine, will that look questionable and probably illegal to HMRC? Should i just lie about my age when i sign up to apple? i don’t really want to do that because if they ever found out, they’d probably stop paying me.I did phone HMRC, but the woman i spoke to didn’t really understand and wasn’t very helpful. she asked Why cant you sign up yourself? , and then told me HMRC don’t get to see your parent’s bank accounts . They’ve never been very helpful at all when i’ve phoned, so i don’t think i can get any info from phoning.
